Rule 18
Appointing Officer
: (1) The authority to make appointments to the following vacant posts in the Police Service shall be vested in the following officers:-
(a) In the post of Additional Inspector General of Police and Inspector General of Police – Government of Nepal
(b) In the post of Senior Superintendent of Police and Deputy Inspector General of Police – Minister of Home Affairs
(c) In the post of Inspector of Police to Superintendent of Police – Secretary, Ministry
(d) In the post of Senior Deputy Inspector of Police and Deputy Inspector of Police – Inspector General of Police
(e) In the post of Assistant Inspector General of Police – Deputy Inspector General of Police or Additional Inspector General of Police
(f) In the post of Senior Constable, Constable of Police, Assistant Constable of Police and Constable of Police – Superintendent of Police or Senior Superintendent of Police
(g) In the post of Police Office Assistant – Deputy Superintendent of Police or above Police Officer
(2) The appointing authority shall make the appointment within one month for gazetted posts and within fifteen days for non-gazetted posts based on the merit order of the recommendation of the recruitment committee or the promotion committee.
